]]> Mary Jennings (1957-2010), was the first and longest serving employee of the Valley Regional Hospital Foundation. During her career she worked with community volunteers to organize several capital campaigns to provide equipment and services for Valley Regional Hospital. Mary left her mark on the entire community and is dearly missed.

Many donors will be familiar with Mary, if not in person than as an employee of Valley Regional Hospital Foundation for almost 25 years. Mary passed away November 1, 2010.

The last project she was working on was this campaign, to redevelop Valley Regional Hospital and build a Hospice and Palliative Care Centre. Mary worked on many campaigns throughout her career, including the first campaign to build Valley Regional Hospital.

As recognition of her contributions to health care through her work with the Valley Regional Hospital Foundation, we nominated her for the Outstanding Professional Fundraiser award sponsored by the Association of Fundraising Professionals in Nova Scotia. The Association recognizes individuals, groups and corporations in a wide range of categories focusing on philanthropy.

At a dinner in May, 2012, Mary was selected as the winner of this award and her husband, John Lindsay, accepted on her behalf.

Mary contributed so much to her family, friends, workplace and community and made an impact on those who knew her and those who benefited from her work as a professional fundraiser.
