Handmade Hugs

The overwhelming response the Foundation received to our call for baby hats made us realize there is a group of passionate knitters and crocheters in our community who want to help with Handmade Hugs!

While the need for baby hats doesn’t happen often, there is a need for patient comfort among the hospital. A stay in the hospital, or having long treatment sessions like chemotherapy or dialysis, can often make one feel isolated and alone. A handmade blanket for comfort not only provides warmth in a chilly hospital environment, but also reminds patients there is a whole community behind them that cares.

Handmade Hugs is a group of volunteer knitters and crocheters who provide handmade baby blankets and lap blankets for patients to use and take home with them to continue their healing journey. If you would like to register as a volunteer maker for Handmade Hugs, please fill out the form below.

* Due to storage and volume, all knitters and crocheters must be registered into the Handmade Hugs program as a volunteer. Any blankets being donated to Valley Regional Hospital Foundation must be handmade by a registered Handmade Hugs volunteer.

All blankets must be made from new yarns and be fragrance free, smoke and pet hair free.
